Nazi-style hate crime hits FP

Angel Martinez arrived to open Nature’s Home Organic Market on Monday morning, July 12 at 7:10 a.m.

She told The Mountain Enterprise she was shocked to find that someone had broken into her store, stolen cash and left a disturbing message.

Martinez found: “White Power,” “SS” and “1488” written in yellow marker pen on the base of the cash register. The numerals 1488, the Anti-Defamation League explains, refers to a 14-word slogan about white supremacy. The eighth letter of the alphabet, “H,” stated twice, signifies “Heil Hitler” in neo-Nazi cult propaganda.

Above: The Nature’s Home cash register drawer was smashed.

Simply Value Bleach was poured around the store, on counters and in a vandalized supply room. The bottle was brought in by the vandals.

A yellow marker pen was used to scribble the Nazi and white supremacist codes on the top of the cash register casing. It is hard to read. Notice the arrows toward the marks, and the 14 88 code
