New fires suppressed by aircraft and firefighters

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at 9 p.m.)—Sean Wolf with Los Padres National Forest, Mount Pinos Ranger District Fire Prevention and Investigation has provided an updated summary of the fires burning around the Mountain Communities.

Wolf writes: “Following the initial outbreak of lightning fires surrounding the Mountain Communities on September 9th. Several additional lightning related small fires have been discovered.

Two fires have been discovered on Mt Pinos. Each fire is under an acre with one in a remote area being suppressed by a Redding Smoke Jumping crew deployed while staging out of San Bernadino.

Northwest of the Pine Mountain Club community another small fire was discovered caused by lightning striking a tree.

An additional fire was discovered in Hardluck/Piru Creek area again in a remote area with fire crews being flown in to access the location.

The rate of spread for all fires have been stopped under 10 acres. Air resources will continue to monitor the areas for any additional starts.”
