This Mountain Community is powered by generous hearts and determined spirits. Helping hands reach out to assist when folks are in need.

In this Thanksgiving season, here are some quick reminders of the many ways neighbors here step up to care and share. Counterclockwise: (1) Pine Mountain Scrappers delivered their homemade quilts to Jamison Children’s Center last week; (2) Meals on Wheels volunteers wrap gifts for meal delivery recipients; (3) The VFW’s biggest and most popular fundraiser for all ages is the Fiesta Days Pancake Breakfast; (4) Moose Lodge donates its Poker Run proceeds to the Mountain Communities Family Resource Center; (5) Scholarships for high school graduates are raised by tireless volunteers as (in foreground) the late Dee “Batter Babe” Bumgartner, and (in red cap) VFW Post Commander Gil Valenzuela (now struggling with covid-19 in the hospital); (6) Volunteers work to keep the Family Resource Center food bank…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)
