All lanes now open — Pedestrian killed on Interstate 5 north of Fort Tejon

LEBEC, CA (Friday, January 4, 2019 at 9:20 a.m.)—All lanes are now open, according to CHP.

LEBEC, CA (Friday, January 4, 2019 at 8:53 a.m.)—Northbound I-5 lanes 1 and 2 are still closed and traffic is backed up about three miles to around Fort Tejon. Only lanes 3 and 4 are open. Motorists wishing to avoid the area can take State Route 138 (three miles south of Gorman) east to State Route 14 and take that north to State Route 58 into Bakersfield.

LEBEC, CA (Friday, January 4, 2019 at 6:51 a.m.)—A pedestrian, reportedly trying to cross the freeway on northbound Interstate 5 this morning, was struck by numerous vehicles and killed at about 5:45 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol. Traffic in all lanes was stopped for a period of time, but lanes 3 and 4 (the two slow lanes) were opened just before 7 a.m.
