Power off in Lebec last week, I-5 closed down, as Saddleridge fire raged in San Fernando Valley

Threats of gusty Santa Ana winds during this dry fire season last week led California power utility companies to send precautionary shut-off warnings to customers throughout the state.
Locally, the entire mountain region was put on notice for possible power shutdowns. Pacific Gas & Electric customers in the northern section of Lebec did have their power shut off.

Helicopters hovered over the Mountain Communities last Friday through this week as Southern California Edison remote inspection units surveyed wires, equipment and poles from the sky. Several new power poles are to be installed next week, SCE said. Some have already been replaced in Frazier Park.

The Saddleridge fire south of Santa Clarita shut down freeways and blockaded mountain residents when all north-south routes were closed October 11.
