POWER RESTORED: Power pole hit in Lebec causes mountainwide outage

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020 at 8:39 a.m.)—Power was restored this morning at 8:27 a.m. in Frazier Park. We have heard from those in several other areas that power was restored around the same time in Lake of the Woods and Lebec.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at 6:35 p.m.)—Southern California Edison’s assessment that 372 customers have been affected is quickly being shown to be untrue as we have not found a single party whose power is on, after making calls mountainwide. We are estimating (without technical means to do so and in the absence of credible information from Edison) that the number of customers affected must be in the thousands.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at 6:20 p.m.)—Estimates by Southern California Edison for restoring electrical service to the Mountain Communities are ranging from midnight tonight to as late as 1 p.m. Tuesday.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.)—One unofficial estimate given to one of our local public agencies is possibly 12 midnight before power may be restored. The Mountain Enterprise is currently checking with Southern California Edison to get an official estimate.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at 12:30 p.m.)—A power pole was knocked down on Frazier Mountain Park Road in Lebec at the Flying J truck stop shortly before 11 a.m. CHP told The Mountain Enterprise there are three possible causes, all unconfirmed at this time. 1) An automobile transporter may have struck the power pole after leaving Flying J. 2) A dump truck with its tipper fully extended upward, may have snagged a line, which may have brought the pole down. 3) A combination of both 1 and 2 with another large vehicle hitting the downed lines on Frazier Park Road, bringing the lines down further is a possible scenario.

Whichever is true, the accident brought power lines down across Frazier Mountain Park Road, causing a power outage throughout much of Lebec and the rest of the mountain, including Pine Mountain Club.
