Read your dog’s mind— accurately

Certified dog trainer Lola McKnight of Lola 4 Pets is offering two basic obedience classes, starting this week at the SPCA Thrift Store in Frazier Park, across the street from the pharmacy. Evening classes start on Friday, July 26 at 6 p.m. and morning classes start on Saturday, July 27 at 9 a.m. The first session is an orientation for owners only, without dogs. A hint: some tools you need will be a collar, a 4-foot leash and tiny, soft treats such as pea-size bits of hotdogs or cheese, for quick rewards.

There will be no class on August 2 or 3, because of Fiesta Days.

The next three classes will be with your dog. Basic commands such as “sit,” “lie down,” and quiet walking on a loose leash will be taught.
