FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Jan. 13 at 8:45 p.m.)–The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Kern County Mountains in advance of high winds and low humidity conditions.

…RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TUESDAY TO 10 PM
PST WEDNESDAY FOR VERY LOW HUMIDITIES AND STRONG WINDS OVER THE
KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS…

* AFFECTED AREA…FIRE WEATHER ZONE 295 KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS
ABOVE 2000 FEET. LOCATIONS INCLUDE PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB…FRAZIER
PARK…LEBEC…BEAR VALLEY SPRINGS…TEHACHAPI…WALKER
BASIN…SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST INCLUDING THE PIUTES.

* WINDS…NORTHEAST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

* TIMING…STARTING AT AROUND 8 AM PST TUESDAY MORNING AND
CONTINUING THROUGH 10 PM PST WEDNESDAY EVENING.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…AS LOW AS 8 PERCENT FOR 8 TO 10 HOURS.

* TEMPERATURES…RELATIVELY WARM WITH MAX VALUES REACHING INTO THE
LOWER TO MID 60S.

* IMPACTS…IF FIRE IGNITION OCCURS THERE COULD BE RAPID SPREAD
AND EXTREME BEHAVIOR WITH THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW…OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF
STRONG WINDS…LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY…AND WARM TEMPERATURES
CAN CONTRIBUTE TO EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR. PLEASE ADVISE THE
APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS OR FIRE CREWS IN THE FIELD OF THIS RED
FLAG WARNING.
