Ten years ago, forest visitors and local residents routinely purchased the Adventure Pass to park their cars anywhere in the forest—at trailheads, at “The Y,” even in a random spot along the side of the road. It was $5 per day or you could buy an annual pass for $30. A local two-car family would shell out $60 each year if they wanted to park their car and go for walks in the forest.
Then, the Adventure Pass quietly faded into the background—quietly unless you were tuned into the legal…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)

Parking at the McGill Trail trailhead no longer requires an Adventure Pass if you are only parking to walk the trail; but to use McGill Campground, you would need to pay the private management company a fee.
