Creative redesign ideas greeted with new optimism

Imagine your child being able to graduate from Frazier Mountain High School as a sophomore in college. That is an instant 25% reduction in the cost of a college education and 25% less in tuition debt, starting right here on the mountain. This plan is already being implemented at FMHS.
The school is known as a leader for its innovative Communications Technology (ComTec) Academy. Now Bob Hawkes from the Kern Community College District (director of a program to implement Career Technical Education in 13 Central California colleges) is pointing to Frazier Mountain High School as the path of the future for vocational education [see his letter ‘Good things come in small packages,’ at left].
The El Tejon Unified School District trustees also got a preview of the new Condor Academy last week at its third budget workshop on January 29. The brainstorm continues at the last public workshop in the series on Thursday, Feb. 5 (6-8 p.m. at the FMHS Continuation School).
