FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, 2019 at 9:45 a.m.)—Kern County Roads Department has announced that the Mt. Pinos Recreation is NOW OPEN. The department also announced that Frazier Mountain Park Road is open west of Interstate 5 and the roadway is open from Cuddy Valley to Cerro Noroeste, west of Pine Mountain Club.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, 2019 at 2:25 p.m.)—Kern County Roads Department has announced that the Mt. Pinos Recreation Area will remain closed until Friday, Dec. 6.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, 2019 at 7:55 a.m.)—Cuddy Valley Road/Mt. Pinos Road is now open to the first snow gate. Kern County Roads Department has announced that the Mt. Pinos Recreation Area will remain closed until Wednesday, Dec. 4.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, 2019 at 10:48 a.m.)—Interstate 5 remains open in both directions over the Grapevine. Mt. Pinos Road leading up to Nordic Base on Mount Pinos remains closed and is currently scheduled to reopen Monday, Dec. 2 after the roadway has been cleared. No other road closures have been reported in the Mountain Communities area at this time.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at 2:50 p.m.)—CHP is pacing traffic on Interstate 5 between Frazier Mountain Park Road and Grapevine Road due to snowy conditions.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at 1:58 p.m.)—Interstate 5 is open in both directions. On Frazier Mountain Park Road, CHP is conducting mandatory chain control at the east end of Mt. Pinos Way. Those motorists without chains are being turned around. Mt. Pinos Way is closed between Laguna Trail and upper Los Padres Drive until Kern County Roads Department can clear the snow and ice off the road.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at 9:29 a.m.)—The #1 (fast) and #2 lanes are open.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at 8:44 a.m.)—All lanes except the fast lane of northbound Interstate 5 are blocked just south of Grapevine Road due to a big rig on its side.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at 2:23 p.m.)—Hudson Ranch Road (west of PMC) is now open.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at 6:58 a.m.)—Interstate 5 is open in both directions at this time. Mt. Pinos Road, which leads to Nordic Base on Mt. Pinos is closed at the first snow gate until Monday, Dec. 2. Hudson Ranch Road is closed between Mil Potrero Highway and Highway 166.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:53 p.m.)—CHP is continuing to run escorts for groups of motorists both southbound and northbound.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:32 p.m.)—CHP reports that snow is falling from Vista Del Lago down to Templin Highway. The northbound onramp at Templin Highway has been closed.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:28 p.m.)—Northbound closure is at Parker Road in Castaic.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:24 p.m.)—CHP has begun escorting motorists in groups from Gorman and is preparing to bring groups up from the north side.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:21 p.m.)—As snow stops and starts over Interstate 5, CHP is trying to ascertain whether to begin taking groups of motorists over the Grapevine.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 7:43 p.m.)—The southbound I-5 onramp in Gorman is being shut down.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 7:43 p.m.)—Traffic is currently being held in Castaic at Hasley Canyon Road until a closure can be set up at Parker Road.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 7:41 p.m.)—CHP is asking Caltrans to initiate a closure at Lake Hughes Road in Castaic for the northbound lanes due to vehicles that are stuck in the snow just south of Vista Del Lago.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 7:25 p.m.)—Snowfall from Vista Del Lago through Lebec has CHP requesting snow plows and running traffic breaks. There is a likelihood of the Grapevine being shut down again tonight/early Friday morning.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 12:11 p.m.)—All of this snow, and we have it ALL to ourselves! (for now)

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 11:12 a.m.)—Kern County Roads Department reports that the Mt. Pinos Recreation area will be closed until Monday, Dec. 2 while Mt. Pinos Road is closed for snow clearing.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 11:10 a.m.)—Hudson Ranch Road (west of PMC) is closed between Highway 166 and Mil Potrero Highway.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 10:50 a.m.)—The Grapevine section of the Interstate 5 opened up at 10:40 a.m. Traffic is resuming. Hurray! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Safe travels.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:01 a.m.)—Interstate 5 is CLOSED over the Grapevine. The northbound lanes are closed in Castaic at Lake Hughes Road. The southbound lanes are closed in Mettler at Laval Road. Traffic is being turned around in both locations. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes. From the Los Angeles area, take Hwy. 101 north. If you are north of Bakersfield and traveling south, use any route that takes you west toward the coast. From there, take U.S. 101 south into the Los Angeles area.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 11:14 p.m.)—Interstate 5 (The Grapevine) is open in both directions. There are no reports of road closures in the Mountain Community area.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 11:49 a.m.)—Interstate 5 (The Grapevine) is open in both directions. There is only one report of a road closure for mountain area roadways at this time: Cuddy Valley Road/Mt. Pinos Road is closed at the first snow gate leading to Mt. Pinos. Kern County Roads Department reports that vehicle CHAINS ARE REQUIRED on Frazier Mountain Park Road, Cuddy Valley Road and Mil Potrero Highway.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 9:56 a.m.)—BREAKFAST CONDITIONS ARE EXCELLENT! Falcon’s Nest and La Sierra Mexican Restaurant are both open for breakfast. Ace Hardware is open for everything else.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 8:26 a.m.)—At this time, there are no road closures reported in the Mountain Community area.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 8:14 a.m.)—Snowplows are working Frazier Mountain Park Road, Cuddy Valley Road and Mil Potrero Highway.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 7:58 a.m.)—CHP reports that “snow is sticking” on I-5 north and south of the summit. CHP is beginning to pace vehicles over the Grapevine.
