Neil Simon’s wild farce “Rumors” is being produced as a dinner theatre event November 8, 9 and 11 by the new Mountain Theater Alliance and Pine Mountain Club POA. Everyone is invited to attend.

Here’s the story: Mass confusion reigns when four society couples arrive for a formal dinner party at the home of the deputy mayor of New York City. The host’s wife has disappeared and the host has shot himself in the earlobe. Simon turns political cover-up into comedy as the affluent guests hatch intrigues to shield the politician’s apparent suicide attempt.

The talented actors include Cam Acosta, Stacey Havener, Beans Morocco, Shannon Norris, Bill Fair, Milt Hudson, Dale Sheldon, David Stenstrom, Bob Saberhagen and Jill Hackett. This is a fabulous cast, and they’re having a great time getting this production together.

Kat Fair directs. Roni De La Cruz stage manages. Tiffany Anzalone will handle technical direction. The delicious dinner will be provided by the Bistro on the Greens staff. Cocktail service will be available during dinner and intermission.

Prior dinner theatre events have been well-attended, so it is recommended that tickets be purchased well in advance. Dates and times for the event are: Thursday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 9, dinner at 6:30 p.m. (performance at 7:30 p.m.); Sunday, Nov. 11, dinner at 4 p.m.(performance at 5 p.m.). Tickets are $30 each. Tickets will not be available at the door. Deadline for purchase is Monday, Nov. 5. Call 661-242-6904 for more information. To purchase tickets, call Pine Mountain Club at 661-242-3788.

A word about the Mountain Theater Alliance (MTA):

If you’re interested in playing with us (with or without theatre experience}, you will be welcomed. For this production, MTA is still trying to locate specific items for the modern, up-scale set, to use as props: a low-backed love seat, two small armchairs, a small bar and three bar stools (call 242-6904).

This is part of the October 26, 2012 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
