January 2 is AARP’s first 2014 meeting

By Maxine Jarvis and Shirley Wilson

Our first meeting for the new year will be Thursday, Jan. 2 at noon at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center. Our speaker will be Debra Magana of Crazy Bout Craftin. This is a new business in Frazier Park about sewing and crafts.

We all enjoyed the beautiful music of Celtic Ceilidh at our December meeting.

We meet 12–2 p.m the first Thursday of each month. Our luncheon is a potluck. We have speakers on health and safety issues, plus other subjects of interest to our mountain seniors. Some months we have entertainment, such as sing-alongs. To join our local chapter, it’s $5 per year—yes—that’s per year.

Our AARP chapter also sponsors the Senior Exercise Class every Monday and Thursday (11–11:45 a.m.) in the Senior Center. We play canasta on Tuesday and Sunday and Mexican Train Dominoes on Thursday and Sunday in the Senior Center.

We have a lot of fun at these events. Come join us!

Call Maxine at 248-6899 or Shirley at 245-1782 for more details.

This is part of the December 20, 2013 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
