LEBEC, CA (Thursday, July 7, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.)—Kern County Fire Department has confirmed that the Shell fire is 100% contained and the final acreage is 1,984.

LEBEC, CA (Thursday, July 6, 2021 at 4:58 p.m.)—Kern County Fire Department has provided no updates on the Shell fire since June 29, a week ago. There was no final report provided to confirm that the fire was put out. The last report put containment at 85% for the fire that had been burning on Tejon Ranch.

LEBEC, CA (Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 1:33 p.m.)—Wednesday’s reported progress on the Shell fire was 1,984 acres burned and 85% containment.

LEBEC, CA (Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.)—Kern Count Fire Department reports that containment of the Shell fire is 65%. Acreage burned remains at 1,984.

LEBEC, CA (Monday, June 28, 2021 at 6:31 p.m.)—Kern County Fire Department reports that the Shell fire is now 50% contained. The blaze has burned 1,984 acres, according to KCFD Public Information Officer Andrew Freeborn. No structures have been lost and none are threatened at this time.

LEBEC, CA (Monday, June 28, 2021 at 8:30 a.m.)—A brush fire that started Sunday at about 1 p.m. as a car fire on northbound Interstate 5, just south of Grapevine Road has grown to more than 1,200 acres as it moved in a southeasterly direction onto Tejon Ranch overnight. Containment is estimated to be 2 percent this morning.
