INCIDENT CLOSED: Snail fire in western Lockwood Valley is 40% contained

LOCKWOOD VALLEY, CA (Monday, Sept. 2, 2019 at 10:58 a.m.)—A brush fire that was reported at about 3 p.m. Sunday, several miles north of Lockwood Valley Road and several miles east of State Route 33, near Snail Canyon, is now 40% contained and has consumed 279 acres, according to Los Padres National Forest Public Information Officer Andrew Madsen. Full containment of the Snail fire is expected by Tuesday morning, Madsen said. Kern County, Ventura County and Angeles National Forest firefighters are assisting Los Padres National Forest firefighters. Approximately 230 firefighters responded along with six air tankers and four helicopters, Madsen told The Mountain Enterprise.
