580580UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, Pine Mountain Club, CA and The Grapevine (Tuesday, Feb.2, 2016 at 7:30 a.m.)—Roads continue mostly clear with icy spots cindered from Mil Potrero S curves through the ‘Y’ and into Frazier Park. The sun returns today. But it was 19 degrees in Pine Mountain community this morning.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, Pine Mountain Club, CA and The Grapevine (Tuesday, Feb.2, 2016 at 4 a.m.)— Roads were mostly dry and clear last night from Lebec through Cuddy Valley. Ice was sticking to the road from the Mil Potrero ‘Y’ through the S curves to Pine Mountain. It is 19 degrees in Pine Mountain Club, 28 degrees in Lebec. Translation: expect ice on roads throughout the region this morning in shaded areas and bridges. Drive slowly. Don’t risk a spin out. Get there safely.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, Pine Mountain Club, CA and The Grapevine (Monday, Feb.1, 2016 at 10:15 a.m.)—Electricity and landline phone service are restored to Pine Mountain community residents.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, Pine Mountain Club, CA and The Grapevine (Monday, Feb.1, 2016)—No school for area children today. A snow day has been called by all schools in the Mountain Communities, including Peak to Peak, Gorman Elementary, Frazier Park School, El Tejon School and Frazier Mountain High School.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, Pine Mountain Club, CA and The Grapevine (Monday, Feb.1, 2016 at 9:02 a.m.)—Roads are icy but clear through Mil Potrero Highway out of Pine Mountain Club, chains, 4×4 or all-wheel drive are recommended. Roads are clear through Cuddy Valley into Frazier Park, but icy. Drive slowly.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, Pine Mountain Club, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 8:12 p.m.)—Traffic hazard reported on Lebec Road just south of Lebec Oaks Road appear to be cleared, according to CHP reports. A collision at the Cuddy Valley Road and Mil Potrero Highway ‘Y’ had no injuries. Hard ice conditions beyond the ‘Y’ led to numerous cars skidding off Mil Potrero Highway by about 6 p.m. That is still in the process of being cleared. You should have chains or spiders for snow areas, snow tires, and four wheel drive to be confident of driving safely in these road conditions tonight.

UPDATE-Gorman (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 4:17 p.m.)—There is a solo vehicle rollover on Southbound I-5 just south of Gorman School Road. The vehicle has gone off the roadway, hit the mountainside and is on its roof, according to CHP.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Lebec, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 3:55 p.m.)—Snow is beginning to stick on Interstate 5. CHP reports that a traffic break will be created to allow Caltrans to start applying sand.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Pine Mountain Club, Lake of the Woods, Piñon Pines, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 2 p.m.)—Rain and snow-related accidents are being reported from the Interstate 5 through the Mil Potrero Highway into Pine Mountain Club. Photographer Jeff Zimmerman of Neenach sent photos of a snow accident at the Mil Potrero ‘Y’ and said he has seen several overturned cars, including one on the way to Pine Mountain Club and one on Frazier Mountain Park Road west of Lockwood Valley.  Drive slowly and have chains available. Four wheel / all-wheel drive with snow tires is wise.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Pine Mountain Club, Lake of the Woods, Piñon Pines, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 1:43 p.m.)—A Sig Alert was called at 1:25 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5 at Vista Del Lago. The cause is unknown.

UPDATE-Pine Mountain Club (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 1:41 p.m.)—A vehicle has rolled over on Mil Potrero Highway halfway between the ‘Y’ and PMC (Yellowstone Dr). All occupants are out of the vehicle and report that they are not injured

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Pine Mountain Club, Lake of the Woods, Piñon Pines, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 1:39 p.m.)—CHP is reporting mud and rocks have come down in the slow lane of southbound Interstate 5, just south of Grapevine.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, Pine Mountain Club, Lake of the Woods, Piñon Pines, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 12:30 p.m.)—Snow is sticking at the higher elevations in Pine Mountain, Piñon Pines and even Lake of the Woods. Rain is still coming down in Lebec and Frazier Park. It is not a driving rain, but has been steady. Fog and low-visibility in patches has been reported on the Grapevine. Pine Mountain Club had .22 inch rain before the snow began. At 6,000 feet about an inch of snow has accumulated. Plows not yet up Zermatt.

UPDATE-Frazier Park, CA, The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 9:39 a.m.)—The National Weather Service has updated its forecast. Snow showers mostly tonight up to around 4 a.m., then Monday morning to around 10 a.m. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches is possible. Snow play at the top of Mt. Piños is closed. There is very little snow buildup at this time at lower elevations. See week’s forecast from National Weather Service below.

FRAZIER PARK/ MT. PIÑOS, CA and The Grapevine (Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at 9:33 a.m.)—The Mt. Pinos snowplay area is closed, according to CHP. No other information has been provided. Interstate 5 is open over the Grapevine. Frazier Mountain Park Road / Cuddy Valley Road are open. Mt. Pinos Road (the road to the top of Mt. Pinos) is closed.
