A true Halloween treat brought shouts of joy from one end of these thirsty Mountain Communities to the other on Friday, Oct. 31 when rain arrived (with hail and snow).

From Fort Tejon in Lebec through Frazier Park to Cerro Noroeste (west of Pine Mountain Village), we got rain measures ranging from .57 to 1 inch by Saturday mid-morning, when the sun returned. That exceeds the National Weather Service definition of a ‘wetting rain’—.25 inch in 24 hours—to increase fuel moisture levels in the forest.   —by Patric Hedlund
