Soccer Highlights: October 23, 2010

U-12 Legacy vs. Rebels

The U-12 Legacy (coached by Laura Raymond and Loren Graham, no sponsor) and Rebels (coached by Matt and Cristal Vivirito, sponsored by La Sierra Mexican Restaurant) faced off at noon on October 23 at Tejon Fields for another exciting competition.

The Rebels were the first to score when Michael Stegman, via a pass from Michael Stearns, was able to break through the strong defense of Ron Wolfe, Lea Graham and Hunter Lannom. The Rebel forwards showed strong passing skills throughout the game and scored again in the second quarter with a pass from Ceasar Camacho to Thomas Paniagua.

The Legacy offense of Rachel Ausherman, Marissa Beale and Mario Ketcham were aggressive and made several close attempts at the Rebel goal, but were held back by Rebel defenders Rachel Hallmark, Alvaro Molina and Michael Stearns. I

n the third quarter, Rebel Michael Stegman was awarded a penalty kick and was successful in his efforts, yielding a third goal against the Legacy. The Legacy adjusted their line-up in the fourth quarter and two break-away goals by Lea Graham heightened the excitement of the game as the Legacy kept the competition tight. But time was on the Rebels’ side and the game ended with a final score of Rebels 3, Legacy 2. Thanks to Beth Villanueva for refereeing the game.
