U-19 Diablos Rojos vs. Ninja
Turtles
By Jacob Lien

Frazier Park’s Diablos Rojos played Bakersfield’s Region 73 Ninja Turtles. Each team fielded 7 players. The first quarter ended with no scoring. A refreshing fall rain made the game more enjoyable, but many players watched fearfully for lightning. Even without their top scorers, Heriberto (Eddy) Reyes and Cody Bauer, the Diablos pulled out a victory for Region 382.

A Turtle earned two yellow cards and was sent off the field. Max Arteaga received one yellow as well. The Turtles scored a penalty kick.

The Diablos’ Alex Gonzales scored 4 and Jeremy Harris scored 2, Max Arteaga and Forrest Csulak both scored 1. Diablos 8, Turtles 5. Way to go Diablos Rojos!

Thunderstorms didn’t reach the soccer fields Saturday morning, so the E-LEMON-ators (sponsored by The Bear Claw Bakery, coached by Paul Heisig) and the Green Fireballs played a tough game. Both were without substitute players.

They started with solid defensive play on both sides. In the second quarter Isabella Sanchez scored the first goal of the game for the E-LEMON-ators, with an assist by Derek Heisig, followed by Tavin Heisig’s score, assisted by Reece DeYoung.

E-LEMON-ator Otto Jensen scored on a strong pass from Ryan Rea, as did Derek Heisig, with an assist from Carlin Collins. ELEMON- ators 7, Fireballs 0.

U-10 Killer Whales vs. Green Fireballs

By Matthew and Cristal Vivirito

After a long morning in which they were beat by the E-Lemonaders 4-0, the Killer Whales (coached by Matthew and Cristal Vivirito, sponsored by Fish Care Unlimited) were hungry for a win against the Green Fireballs (coached by Joe Flores and Chris Vaughn, sponsored by Frazier Park Market).

The Fireballs came out strong as Lucas Flores and Mikayla Tondreau attacked, but the Whales’ defense, headed by Sedona Vivirito, Kelly Stegeman, Aden Wiebers and Adam Snover, resisted. Whales forward D.J. Kimbrough slammed three balls into the net, then midfielder Sedona Vivirito scored her first goal of the season. Fireballs attacked repeatedly, but Killer Whales goalies Adam Snover and Aden Wiebers were solid. Whales Macalah Bierman scored. Sisters Kelly and Angela Stegeman teamed to make the sixth goal for the Whales. Fireball goalie Mikayla Tondreau blocked many shots. Killer Whale Vivirito scored the final goal to take the win, 7-0.

U-12 Rebels vs. Burgundy Beasts
By Matthew and Cristal Vivirito

It was a cold Saturday morning at El Tejon Fields as the Burgundy Beasts (coached by Neeley and Schillig, sponsored by Mountain Auto Body) attacked the Rebels (coached by Matthew and Cristal Vivirito, sponsored by La Sierra Mexican Restaurant).

Beast John Masud scored the first goal, followed by Alex [last name unavailable]. Then the Rebels warmed as the sun rose. Michael Stegeman scored from the 18-yard line. Then Michael Stearnes put one in. Stearnes got two more Rebel goals before the half.

Rebel Lily Hallmark slammed a goal as teammates Brianna Edwards and Cesar Camacho controlled the midfield. The Beasts’ defense lead by Maria Caldrone, Dylan Forrester and Kolbe Gameros fought hard.

Rebel Stegeman took a double goal hat trick. Goalie Michael Stearnes held the defensive line with Rebels Rachel Hallmark, Joey Bizinni and Alvaro Molina. Thomas (Tommy) Paniagua knocked in the final goal: Rebels 8, Beasts 2.
