Solar Panel Installers Needed – Training Provided

There is  a “no experience necessary” job recruitment opportunity on Wednesday, July 22, 8 a.m. to noon in Taft for solar panel installers. No experience is necessary and training is provided. The electrical workers union is co-hosting the recruitment event with the Kern County’s Department of Human Services. Just show up and apply. Here is the press release:

TAFT-Kern County 4th District Supervisor David Couch and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 428 will co-host a job recruitment event in Taft offering members of the public the opportunity to train and work as solar panel installers at the Maricopa West Solar Project and other solar projects throughout Kern County.

Job seekers are invited to speak with IBEW Local 428 members and apply for jobs as solar panel installers.

IBEW Local 428 members will be available from 8 a.m. to noon to answer questions about the job as well as distribute and accept applications.

Solar panel installation includes uncrating, lifting, and carrying solar panels, securing panels into place, and cleaning up the job site. The job requires lifting of approximately 50 pounds, reaching and lifting above the shoulder, climbing ladders and stairs, bending and stooping, extended periods of walking, exposure to various weather conditions, and the ability to work at a rapid pace.

Other requirements include reliable transportation to work, ability to take direction and work with other people, ability to pass a drug test, English language proficiency, steel or safety toe boots suitable for construction, and ID as required on the Federal I-9 document.
