LEBEC, CA (Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 1:10 p.m.)—A kidnapping suspect out of Arvin was fleeing in his vehicle southbound on Interstate when he crashed into the center divider near Laval Road, according to Fort Tejon CHP Officer Tim Pennington. A Bakersfield SWAT team got the suspect to surrender without further incident. No victims were in the car; only the suspect was in the car, according to Pennington. Traffic was backed up for many miles in both north and soutbound directions. “They’ve opened lanes in both directions now, so it should clear up soon,” Pennington said.
