Tecuya Ridge Fuel Break holds strong in Frazier Park Wildfire

By Sean Ridgway, TME

A wildfire ignited Thursday, May 29, just below the Tecuya Ridge Fuel Break, putting recent fire mitigation efforts by the Los Padres National Forest Service to the test.

Crews from multiple agencies across California launched an aggressive initial attack which was initially estimated at up to 200 acres. Firefighters used hand tools and chainsaws to construct hand lines, bulldozers cut dozer lines ahead of the flames

The mopping-up efforts are ongoing and will continue for some time, ensuring all hot spots are taken care of to avoid another flare-up. As of publication, the footprint of the wildfire is 104.5 acres with 85% containment. Wildfires are an unfortunate reality, but effective mitigations plans like the one in Frazier Park can make all the difference when it comes to limiting their spread and damage.
