Tejon Ranch Company Hopes for $15.8 Million for Conservation Easements

LEBEC (Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, 5 p.m.)—As reported in tomorrow’s issue of The Mountain Enterprise, the Tejon Ranch Conservancy is seeking five grants from the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB—"an independent board" under the umbrella of the California Department of Fish and Game) to purchase five conservation easements from Tejon Ranch Company. The request for $15,800,000 is item 29 on the \November 19, 2010 agenda for the WCB. The easements over 62,000 acres are intended to create wildlife "linkages and corridors" between sections of the Tejon Ranch Conservancy acreage and to keep the region from being isolated from access to habitats in the southern Sierra Nevada range.—Reported by Patric Hedlund
