COMPLETED: Cooling Center in Frazier Park to open Monday, July 24

By Gary Meyer, TME

Kern County has announced its cooling center at Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive) will open Monday, July 24. While the high temperature for Monday was forecast to be at 91°, the county issued an alert saying the Frazier Park cooling center would be opened.

The Kern County Parks Division, in cooperation with the Department of Aging and Adult Services, schedules the Frazier Park Library cooling center to open each time a date is forecast to be 93° or above. Any time the center is opened, the hours will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

To enter the cooling center, as you are facing the library’s front door, walk to the left around the corner of the building and use the door at the far end of the walkway.

Please note: during the past week, there were two days when Kern County did not announce its cooling center would be open despite the prior-day forecasts of high temperatures above 93°.
