The Debate — Rarely has our country heard the issues articulated quite as directly as in the words of the Parkland students facing squarely into cameras and telling their truths. Here at home, the divide persists over what makes gun sense. Locally, we consulted this week with NRA member Charles ‘Chuck’ Noble of Lebec and bring you a piece from Piñon Pines writer and producer Peter Kjenaas, who explores a grim issue with satire. Then, Veterans For Peace member Ross Canton of PMC tells of his experience with the AR-15 rifle.

The NRA’s purpose, in a little known internal memo that details its underlying ideology, has surfaced. It lays out a clear program that handles not just gun violence but many of life’s other persistent problems.

After reading it I felt a shift in my viewpoint about guns that I never thought I, a liberal, would feel.
