Ian Arthur Hyatt, 2006 FMHS graduate, has joined the U.S. Air Force.

He was originally scheduled to go in late June, but he received a call last week from his recruiter, advising they had found a spot in his chosen field, Air Crew Egress (ejection seats and pilot safety gear) and he had to be ready to go in on Monday, May 14.

Trouble was, Ian had made a commitment to his "adopted mom," Kathy Hintlian, to finish building new steps for her back deck.

Upon learning of this, the USAF 369th Recruiting Squadron of Santa Clarita showed up in force themselves to finish the steps at the Hintlian’s house in Lockwood Valley— and then took Ian with them. They really wanted Ian!

Ian scored very high on all his entry tests and was able to choose his field of training. He is now in San Antonio, Texas at Lackland Air Force Base for Boot Camp. After graduation he will travel to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi for advanced training.

Local staunch supporters of Ian are his brother David Hyatt, sister-in-law Julie Herbert, nephew Reilly Hyatt, niece Zanna Jewel Hyatt, Matt and Kathy Hintlian, their daughters Nikki, Nina and Hannah, as well as "granddad" Chuck Herbert.

Stay Tuned. We’re going to hear a lot more about this great young man of whom we are all so very proud.
