Reporter Katy Penland was at the Frazier Park Market and High Mountain Market the night before the inauguration ceremony, collecting random responses to her question about the inauguration.

Question: Are you planning to watch the inauguration tomorrow? Why?

Jackie Forbes, FP: I’ll be at work all day long. If it was on from 5 – 7, yes.

Sue Jaynes, LOW: I’ll be at work. But I’ll watch the news highlights when I get home.

Dale McNeeley, FP: Not interested at all.

Jacob Cabaniss, FP: Yes. It seems like something you should do for a new president.

Jackie Mulliniks, FP: No. No reason why.

Amber Torres, FP: Yes. Because I’m interested.

Bari Moulin, PP: No, I’ll be teaching.

J. Grove, FP: Yes, because it’s important.

Adam Sanders, FP: Probably not. I’ll be at work.

Adam Edgar, PM: Definitely checking it out. Absolutely. It’s exciting and will be a major turning point for the country.

Andrea Lynn Baker, PM: Yes, because I like the inauguration part.

Jason Baker, PM: Yes.

Arthur Kasamanian, FP: Yes. It will be interesting.

Kent Williams, FP: No. Because I don’t believe he’s a natural born citizen. There’s too much stuff going around on the internet that says he’s not an American citizen.

Mariam Kasamanian, FP: Yes, very interesting.

Val Katkov, LOW: Won’t be able to see it on TV but will watch it if it’s on the internet.

Penland writes: “Of course, then there were those who wouldn’t give their names, but who weren’t shy about giving their opinions….”

  • “I don’t give a cr__p about it.” (male)
  • “No. I don’t care.” (male)
  • “No way. I’ll be at work but I wouldn’t watch anyway because he’s not black. He’s half white. His black father abandoned him and he was raised by his white mother and white grandparents. I come from a mixed race family myself, but I’m not black and he’s not black. It shouldn’t matter but I’m tired of hearing about him being black. He’s not.” (female)
  • “I doubt it. I’m 85. I just give up on all this stuff.” (male)
