• Calling all homeless talent, Jammin’ in the Park is looking for you! Come and share your musical talents at Dr. Martin Luther King Park (35 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Bakersfield), from 1–3 p.m. Musicians perform on a first come sign-up basis with a 5 minute maximum and all material must be G-rated. Audience and fans are encouraged to attend to enjoy the show.

• Song writers are invited to a free workshop sponsored by the Center of the World Festival, 3-7 p.m. Accomplished musician Lee Cadena will guide participants to compose musical pieces telling the stories of our settlers and the native people who lived here (16311 Askin Drive., Basecamp, in Pine Mountain Village).

• Friends of the Library used book sale begins today, for members only, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Dr., Frazier Park). Memberships can be purchased at the door. The sale continues Thursday through Saturday for the general public.

• The Friends of The Library used book sale is open to the public and continues through Saturday, May 2. The book sale is open today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
