• Today is the last day for the Frazier Park School PTSO Book Fair, 10:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m. Books are available in English and Spanish.

Saturday, Oct. 3

• Today is the last Green Dragon Farmers Market of the season, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. (3433 Los Padres Dr., Frazier Park). All produce will be ripped out today and is free (donations welcomed).

• Frontier Army Days at Fort Tejon, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. offers an experience of life at an army post in the 1850s (4201 Fort Tejon Road, Lebec, about 5 miles north on the I-5, at the Fort Tejon exit). Admission for adults is $5; ages 7-17, $2; ages 6 and under, free.

• The historic Ridge Route is 100 years old! Come enjoy the Ridge Route Centennial Celebration at El Tejon School in Lebec, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Tour Deadman’s Curve, enjoy vintage cars, food vendors, souvenirs, raffles and live bands. Free admission and parking, hosted by the Ridge Route Preservation Organization and the Ridge Route Communities Museum.

• Hear authentic Native American drummers led by Ralph Leos, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Dr., FP).

• A Book Talk will discuss and compare Ishi, Last of His Tribe by Theodora Kroeber and Ishi Means Man by Thomas Merton at 1 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Dr., FP). The discussion will be led by Stephen Berry.

Sunday, Oct. 4

• The Guy Wyame Memorial Poker Run starts at 11 a.m. Follow 95 miles of scenic Los Padres National Forest. Entry fee of $30 includes your BBQ lunch and live music (lunch-only is $15). Proceeds benefit Guy’s family. Sign up at Madd Bailey’s Pub (661.242.8810).

• Get ready for some “organic” fun. Green Dragon Organic Farm’s 5th Annual Harvest Celebration is noon to 4 p.m. at Frazier Park Library. A pot-luck feast, end of the season reports and congratulations to students receiving scholarships are part of the planned festivities.

Monday, Oct. 5

• Free Qi Gong classe 10–10:45 a.m., at Frazier Mountain Park Community Center by instructor Deborah Turner (661.245.3456).

• The Frazier Park School PTSO Book Fair starts today and will run through October 2, 10:45 a.m.–1 p.m. Books will be available in English and Spanish.

Wednesday, Oct. 7

• Classes in basic conversational English and Spanish begin today and continue for eight weeks at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Dr., FP). Teacher Jenny Page will conduct the basic conversational English course 4:30–5:30 p.m. and basic conversational Spanish from 6–7 p.m. Sign up at the library.

• The Speak Easy Theater Halloween Show rehearsals begin tonight at 5:30 p.m. (at 16311 Askin Dr., Pine Mountain Village, Basecamp). Future rehearsals are planned on October 14, 21 and 28. The Halloween Show is set for October 30 at 7 p.m.

• The Frazier Mountain CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will hold their second meeting at Falcon’s Nest, 6–7 p.m. in Frazier Park. Anyone interested in personal and community preparedness is welcome to attend. Don’t forget: the Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drill is October 15. See reminder on page 4.

• Master Tracker and Wilderness Educator Jim Lowery will be the featured speaker Friday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., at the public Town Hall in the PMC clubhouse pool pavilion. Lowery will show videos and photographs showcasing his Earth Skills Adventures from this year.

• The Teen Jam sessions, held at the Frazier Park Library on Tuesdays at 4 p.m., need music mentors. If you would like to help contact the library, 661.245.1267.
