• The Red Dot Restaurant offers a family-style holiday meal, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. A maximum of 30 people can be served at once. Please RSVP to 661.245.4733. “Pay what you feel from the heart,” Red Dot said.

Thursday, Dec. 31 – NEW YEAR’S EVE

• Madd Bailey’s New Year’s Eve Party features music by Vicki T. and the Maddman. There will be party favors and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight, with no cover charge for this event.

• La Sierra’s New Year’s Eve dinner begins at 6 p.m. This affordable date is $60 per couple. It includes dinner, dessert, champagne and live music.

• Sue’s Tavern offers New Year’s Eve fun that begins at 9 p.m. with live entertainment provided by Backlash and will include party favors.

• Cafe Silva Bella in Pine Mountain Village offers New Year’s Eve specials. Call to reserve your table: 661.242.2131.

* Pine Mountain Club’s New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball is 7 p.m. to midnight in the clubhouse with live music by Boyz Nite Out. Tickets are available at the front desk in advance, $35 per person. That includes appetizers, a dessert buffet and champagne.

Ongoing and Upcoming

• The ‘Holiday Craft Flair’ at Artworks Community Gallery show and gifts sale runs through Christmas Eve, featuring local arts and crafts gifts. Gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday and by appointment (661.858.3130, 16233 Pine Valley Lane, Pine Mountain Village).

• The Holiday Lights at CALM will enchant young and old alike now through Saturday, Jan. 2 5:30–9 p.m. California Living Museum is at 10500 Alfred Harrell Hwy., Bakersfield, 661.872.2256. Tickets are $12 adults, $10 for ages 12-17 and seniors (60+), $6 ages 3–12 (closed Christmas Day).

• Recycle your Christmas tree at the Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road, Lebec). Kern County Waste Management asks that you remove tree stands, nails and decorations (no plastic garbage bags, please).

• Registration for Frazier Mountain Little League is Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 5–7 p.m. at Caveman Cavey’s in the Cave. Bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of residence.

• Sign up now for one of two Spay/Neuter Clinics for cats or dogs offered at Shelter on the Hill (879 Lebec Rd., Lebec). The Friday, Jan. 22 clinic is free (call 805.584.3823). If this clinic fills, appointments can be made for Thursday, Jan. 21 through SOTH with a $20 voucher available at the Family Resource Center. Call Becky Trask, 661.245.3398. There is a limit of four pets per household. Pets must be at least two months old. Please bring proof of residence.
