• Parade Alert! At 11 a.m. skydivers kick off the 34th Annual Pine Mountain Village Lilac Festival. Over 100 arts, crafts and food booths are open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. today and tomorrow, with music, entertainment and kids’ activities. Free admission.

• Falcons’ ‘Midsummer’s Dream’ Prom for seniors of Frazier Mountain High School is at Moorpark Country Club, 7 p.m.

Sunday, May 15

• This is exciting Day 2 of the 34th Annual Pine Mountain Club Lilac Festival, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. in the Pine Mountain Village Center. This is the day to find great deals at over 100 Arts and Crafts booths, food vendors. Enjoy all the fun for kids and adults, with music, entertainment and even helicopter rides. Admission and parking are free.

Monday, May 16

• Gorman School will hold a Scholastic Book Fair today through Friday, May 20, 1–2:45 p.m. and from 6:30–7:30 p.m. May 18 during Gorman School’s Open House.

Wednesday, May 11

• The Falcon Extravaganza, 4-5 p.m., shows off all that is offered at Frazier Mountain High School in Lebec. Go visit. These bright and friendly students and their enthusiastic teachers will dazzle you with opportunities! Take Frazier Mountain Park Road to Peace Valley Road, then Falcon Way to the High School.

• Gorman School’s Open House begins with a dinner for students and parents from 5:30–6:30 p.m. with classrooms open from 6–7 p.m.

Thursday, May 19

• Ventura County hosts a public information day to explain their permitting process at the Lockwood Valley Sheriff’s station. Meet reps from Building and Safety, Planning, Environmental Health, Code Compliance, Public Works Grading and Integrated Waste Management from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will answer questions and provide forms (15021 Lockwood Valley Road, Frazier Park, 93225).

Ongoing and Upcoming

• The 34th Annual Lilac Festival is May 14-15. Submit your parade and booth applications right away. Get them at www.pmclilacfestival.com. May 1 is the deadline for vendors, May 8 for parade entries. The festival is 9 a.m.–5 p.m. both days in the Pine Mountain Village Center. The fun starts with the parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday. • El Tejon School’s Spring Carnival and Chili Cook-Off is Sat., May 20, 4–8 p.m. with fun, food, a bounce house, games, music and a silent auction.

• The man who coached Navajo Code Talkers in WWII retired to Pine Mountain. See a film on him, ‘First Twenty-Nine,’ Friday, May 20, 5 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library. Sgt. John Hood will speak following the film.

• Hungry Valley SVRA offers free ATV Safety Classes for kids ages 6–17 on Saturday May 21. Email HungryValleyASITraining@gmail.com for requirements and times.
