• The South Kern Cemetery District will hold their regularly scheduled board meeting, 5 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library this month. This is your cemetery, located just outside of Arvin, and its operation is paid for by your property taxes.

• Sign up for an Improv Class led by Anna Bradley at the Frazier Park Library. Introduction to Improv will be offered on Tuesdays, 6–8 p.m., July 19–August 30. Intermediate Improv is set for Thursdays, 6–8 p.m., July 21–September 1. For teens and adults only. Call 661.245.1267 to register.

• Thar’s gold on the hill! ‘California Gold’ will be presented by the Ridge Route Museum and the Frazier Park Library as a joint program, 3:30 p.m. Storyteller Jim Cogan will begin with a tale or two at the library. Prospector Stephen Berry, portraying Jack London, will lead a nature walk through Frazier Mountain Park. The adventure continues with gold panning and local gold history at the museum.

• ‘Frazier Proud’ a Community Clean-up is planned for Saturday, July 23, 8 a.m. to noon. The event is sponsored by the Ridge Route Communities Museum, Friends of Frazier Mountain Park, and the Mountain Communities Chamber of Commerce. Meet in the parking lot at Frazier Mountain Community Park. Participants will receive a free T-shirt and are invited to the Ridge Route Museum’s annual picnic at 5 p.m. To make sure you receive a T-shirt, sign up by July 18 at www.mymountainchamber.com or call the museum at 661.245.7747.

• The Ridge Route Communities Museum’s Annual Picnic is Saturday, July 23, 5 p.m., [3515 Park Dr., FP.] Museum members are free. Nonmembers, 13+ are $2; ages 5–12 are $1. BBQ and cold drinks are provided. Bring a side dish to share and a comfy lawn chair. There will be music and door prizes too. Free to ‘Frazier Proud’ participants.

• Ventura County residents: What should future development of unincorporated Lockwood Valley look like? Your ideas are requested at a General Plan workshop being held Saturday, July 30 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. at the Mt. Pinos Ranger District office [34580 Lockwood Valley Rd.].
