Saturday, August 20

• The Turf Party Continues! Help finish Falcon Field this morning, 9 a.m. at Frazier Mountain High School. Bring gloves and sunscreen. Music, Gatorade, water, food, fun and a sense of community pride is provided.

• Tejon Ranch Conservancy hosts a picnic for prospective volunteers, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Fort Tejon State Historic Park. The conservancy is seeking volunteers to lead tours and hikes, help collect data for research projects and to work with school groups. • Don’t miss Heap of Livin’—the raucous frontier saga of a little girl who grew up here as these rowdy Mountain Communities were being founded. At 7 p.m. the Ridge Route Communities Museum presents a readers’ theater play based on the book. Refreshments will be available. The reading is free, and donations all go to maintaining the museum.

• Whiteboy James & The Blues Express perform Blues, Rockabilly and American music at Sue’s Tavern, 9 p.m. No cover; 21 and up.

Tuesday, Aug. 23

• College Planning 101 is a free workshop offered at the Frazier Park Library, 4:30–6 p.m. Mentor Alyssa Haerle presents information on career paths, majors, clubs, sports and more. Bring a laptop. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend too.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

• Back-to-School Night at Frazier Park School opens Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms 5:30–6 p.m., Kindergarten 6–6:30 p.m. and first grade 7–7:30 p.m. Overview for TK parents is 6–6:30 p.m. and incentives for TK–first grade is 6:30–7 p.m. in the cafeteria.

• Back-to-School Night at Peak to Peak Mountain Charter School, will open all classrooms at 5:15 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 25

• Back-to-School Night at Gorman School has a $5 lasagna dinner at 5:30 p.m. and classrooms open to 7:30 p.m.

• Highway 138 Corridor Project workshops will explain the proposed changes are tonight, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Fox Airfield, 4555 W.
