• ‘Fern’s Lake–Don’t Take it for Granted’ will be the presentation at this month’s Town Hall. Presenters will be biologist Lynn Stafford and photographer Liz Buchroeder, 7 p.m. in the Condor Room at the PMC Clubhouse.

Saturday, September 10

• Low Cost vaccination, license and microchips for your dog, 8 a.m.–11 a.m., at Frazier Mountain Park by Kern County Animal Services (661.868.7100). Feline distemper shots are available for cats. No reservation is required. Aggressive dogs need a muzzle.

• Come help celebrate 50 years of The Mountain Enterprise as the voice of the Mountain Communities with live music, food, fun, friends and swapping memories from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 3341 Los Padres Drive, FP. (across from Ace Hardware). Ace Hardware will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the Ridge Route Communities Museum is 20 years old this year.

Sunday, September 11

• The Ride to Remember on 9/11 has been observed for 15 years by the Brennan family, neighbors and friends. Horseback riders meet at Dream Weaver Ranch 3 p.m. (10960 Steinhoff Road) in Cuddy Valley. Walkers and runners meet across from Piñon Pines entrance at 4 p.m. Spectators are invited to come out too. Bring your flags!

Monday, September 12

• Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett is this month’s Ridge Route Communities Museum Book Club selection. The group will meet at the museum at 5 p.m. If you love to read, come join in.
