Friday, Dec. 9
• All branches of the Kern County Library system, including the Frazier Park branch, will be closed today for staff training and development. Regular hours will resume tomorrow.
• Santa’s Secret Shop will be open for students at Gorman School today through Thursday, Dec. 15. The shop will be open during the holiday program on December 15 for those last minute gifts.
• A Holiday “Craft Flair” featuring local arts and crafts gifts is Dec. 9 through Saturday, Dec. 31 at Artworks Community Gallery (16233 Pine Valley Lane in Pine Mountain Village), Friday–Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
• Speak Easy Theater’s ‘Wrap It Up’ holiday show is 7 p.m. at Basecamp (661.242.2709). Tickets are $5. Additional performances are set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 at Artworks Gallery (661.858.3130) and Friday, Dec. 23 at Basecamp.

• VFW Post 9791 will hold a Rummage Sale and the Auxilliary will offer baked goods for sale, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Proceeds benefit local veterans.

• Christmas in the Village is noon to 3 p.m. The event starts off with a parade of children and elves greeting Santa (everyone is invited to join in) and ends with Santa in the Village Gazebo. Come on down to Pine Mountain Village for fun for the whole family.

• An Old Time Radio Show will be presented by Mountain Theater Alliance, 7 p.m. in Pine Mountain Village at Basecamp (661.242.2709). Tickets for this MTA fundraiser are $10. A second show is set for Saturday, Dec. 17, same time and location.
• Does an evening of Condors Ice Hockey and dance sound fun? In the Wings Studio of Dance Performance and Competition Team performs on the ice at the Condors game, 7–9 p.m. at Rabobank Arena (1001 Truxtun, Bakersfield). • A Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance program will be presented jointly by VFW Post 9791 and the Ridge Route Historical Museum, 2 p.m. at the VFW Hall (612 Canada Tr., FP). There will be speakers, a military salute, music, displays and refreshments.
