• Acoustic Fridays is new at Pine Mountain Club, featuring wonderful musical talent from the Mountain Communities. Free (but tips for the artists are appreciated), at 7 p.m in the Condor Lounge at the PMC clubhouse. Tonight come hear guitarists Zach Blue and Mark Owens. Members and guests are invited to enjoy a fixed price buffet dinner from 5 to 7 p.m.

• The first Pet Food Giveaway of the year is Monday, Jan. 15, 9–11 a.m. at the Shelter on the Hill Thrift Store (3536 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park). This is for those who cannot afford adequate food for their pets. The distribution continues January 15 until supplies are gone.

• A public hearing about removing lead paint and repainting Frazier Mountain Park Community Ctr. is Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., first floor, Bakersfield). This is a federally-funded project (CD Project No. 24.17.1).
• A public hearing about an AT&T proposal to place a 75-foot monopine cell tower in Frazier Park (at 11171 Dorothy Lane) is Thursday, Jan. 25, 7 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., first floor, Bakersfield). Submit written comments by January 9 (to Planning and Natural Resources Department, 2700 M St., Ste. 100, Bakersfield, CA 93301).
• Hike through the El Camino Viejo Wilderness at Wind Wolves Preserve. This naturalist-led 6–7 mile trek is Saturday, Jan. 27 from
