* Get your TGIF toe-tapping on as Ron Coleman rocks the house for Acoustic Friday at 7 p.m in the Condor Lounge at the PMC clubhouse.

Saturday, March 31, 2018

• Lockwood Valley residents are invited to discuss the future of their region at the Ventura County General Plan meeting, 10 a.m.–noon, at the Mount Pinos Ranger Station (34580 Lockwood Valley Rd., LV). Hot topics include future growth and policy choices on issues such as climate change, housing, and economic development, for instance. What are your concerns? Come join the conversation. All the public is welcome.

• The Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Community BBQ in Frazier Mountain Park will start with the egg hunt for kids at 11 a.m. sharp—so don’t be late! There will be crafts, animals and 88.3 Life-FM will broadcast it all, live. DJs Matt and Aaron will emcee, spin tunes and keep things lively. This year’s theme is ‘Love Your CommUNITY: Unite in love and all will be okay.’

• Delight in golden blooms at the Poppy Fields Forever artists’ reception, 5 p.m. at Artworks Community Gallery (16233 Pine Valley Lane, PMC). The gallery is filled like an open field of poppies, California’s favorite gold nugget…with refreshments and great conversation!

Ongoing and Upcoming

• Help make Fiesta Days Great! You are invited to come be part of this year’s event at a planning meeting on Sunday, April 8 at 5 p.m. at Caveman Cavey’s Pizza. Your ideas will help make this 51st annual summer celebration the best yet.

• Fostering Girl Power: Mountain Girls, a new club for all Mountain Community girls 4th–8th grade, meets Tuesday, April 10 from 2:30–4:30 in PMC. Each month has a new subject. April is health basics—such as the Heimlich maneuver and CPR from Dr. Thoene—the kinds of things a girl wants to know if she’s home alone with a younger sibling who chokes, falls or gets cut. RSVP and get location at 661.808.7959 (text or call).

• The deadline to submit your comments about two important Forest Service projects—Cuddy Valley Forest Health/Fuels Reduction and Tecuya Ridge Shaded Fuel Break—is April 19. Email comments to comments-pacificsouthwest-los-padres-mt-pinos@fs.fed.us (include project name in subject line); snail mail to Gregory Thompson, c/o Mt. Pinos Ranger District, 34580 Lockwood Valley Road, Frazier Park, CA, 93225; or hand-deliver to that same address (M-F 8 a.m.–12 p.m. and 1 p.m.–4:30 p.m.). Find both proposals at www.mountainenterprise.com.

• What are your thoughts about the impact of 60-70,000 more neighbors? Tejon Ranch’s Centennial Project goes before the L.A. County Planning Commission for a public land-use hearing Wednesday, April 25. A proposed 19,333 homes and 8 mill. sq. ft. of business development from I-5 along SR-138 would stretch over 19 square miles, from Gorman to Neenach. Public comment is invited. The final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is at the Frazier Park Library and online (hotlink at www.MountainEnterprise.com). Email your comments in advance to jsackett@planning.lacounty.gov.
