• ‘Mardi Gras’ is the theme for the Frazier Mountain High School Winter Formal tonight 7–11 p.m. at the school. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple (students only), which includes dinner catered by Falcon’s Nest. Tickets are only available on a pre-sale basis.

• Gather your icky stuff for a Toxic Roundup Household Hazardous Waste drop-off, 9 a.m–noon, at the Lebec Transfer Station. See ad on page 7 for a list of what kinds of waste are accepted.

• For our friends in the western Antelope Valley, Senator Scott Wilk holds mobile office hours for his 21st district constituents 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Leona Valley Community Building (8367 Elizabeth Lake Road, Leona Valley, 93551).

• The PMC Guitar Society meets at noon in the Pine Mountain clubhouse pool pavilion. Electric and acoustic players are welcome to the group, which meets twice a month and will be gearing up to perform at the second annual PMC GuitarFest this summer.

• The Mountain Youth Photo Contest awards ceremony is 5 p.m. at the Frazier Park Branch library (3732 Park Drive, Frazier Park). Come see all the competitors’ photographs and join in celebrating the artistic accomplishments of our Mountain Communities’ kids!

• Public food distribution of food from Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) is 9–11 a.m. in the downstairs room at the Family Resouce Center (3015 Mt. Pinos Way) and is open to the public. This will take place on the last Wednesday of every month. See story on page 8 of the print edition.

• Friends of the Library’s Used Book Sale begins today, 11 a.m.–6 p.m., for members and those who would like to become members. Come help set up and get first choice of great books (at the Frazier Park Library).

• Celebrate spring around the corner with a reel and a waltz at the Celtic Jam from 6–9 p.m. in PMC’s Condor Room. Bring your instrument and join the musicians’ circle, or just bring happy ears and enjoy listening to the music. A great St. Patty’s week thing to do!

• Calling high school artists! Representative Kevin McCarthy invites you to compete in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. The submission deadline is Monday, April 15, and you could win three round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. in June. See story on page 10 of the print edition.

• Bargains on Books: Friends of the Library’s Used Book Sale continues 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, and is open to everyone. Saturday is half-price day, and kids get a free book any day! The deals go down at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive).

• A tour of Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge will spotlight the wildflowers and habitats unique to this California Condor sanctuary. • The ever-popular Old Ridge Route 3-hour car tour led by Ridge Route Communities Museum historian Bonnie Kane rolls around again on Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m. Cost is $15, which includes a history map handout. For reservations call 661.245.7747. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.

• A community meeting about the Tecuya Ridge and Cuddy Valley logging projects planned by Los Padres National Forest is Tuesday, April 2, 5–7 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive), hosted by Mountain Neighbors. Bryant Baker, conservation director for Los Padres ForestWatch, will be there to participate in this informational gathering.

• A Easter-themed community dinner is Saturday, April 6, 3–5 p.m. at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center. It is free to all.

• A Spring Craft Boutique is Sunday, April 7, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the VFW Hall Post 9791 (612 Canada Tr, Frazier Park).

• A Pine Mountain Club Job Fair will be Saturday, April 13, 2–4 p.m. in the PMC clubhouse Condor Room. Multiple local businesses will be there, and applications will be available. Bring your polished resume!
