Eligible seniors (with an annual income below $15,000) may register once for $2, then twice a month may pick up sacks of fresh fruits and veggies, bread, boxed staples and canned food (on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday). • Public comment on the proposed Tejon Indian Tribe Trust Acquisition and Casino Project (located near Mettler, at the junction of Interstate 5 and the 99, just north of Outlets at Tejon) is being accepted during the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The EIS will analyze potential environmental consequences of the 306-acre gaming facility project; public comment is an essential element of the process. • The 37th Annual Pine Mountain Club Lilac Festival is taking parade and vendor booth applications for the May 18–19 tradition of fun to celebrate the spring in Pine Mountain Village Center. See www.pmclilacfestival.com for vendor applications (due by May 3) and parade (by May 10).

• Vrroom­­! Sign up now for the May 25 Ridge Route Run Car Show in downtown Frazier Park. Registration forms are available at www.ridgerouterun.com. Early vehicle registration until May 3 is $25; after that (including the day of) it is $35. Vendor applications are due by May 10. Join the patriotic Memorial Day Parade, along with a massive motorcycle brigade to honor our veterans and those who served and died.

• The next community town hall meeting about the Cuddy Valley and Tecuya Ridge projects planned by Los Padres National Forest is Tuesday, May 14, 5–7 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive), hosted by Mountain Neighbors. An informational presentation by the forest service about the two logging projects is planned, and there will be time for Q&A.

• Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Open House is Tuesday, May 14, 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Kern Ag Pavilion (3300 E. Belle Terrace, Bakersfield 93307), a “one-stop shop” for groundwater users with interests throughout the Kern Subbasin.

• A guitar concert by Nathan Towne and Tony Harmon is Thursday, May 16, 6 p.m. in the PMC Condor Room. Proceeds will go toward hosting the August ‘GuitarFest!’ at Concert on the Greens, featuring Incendio.

• ‘Keep Me Wild’ is a presentation by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Sunday, May 19, 5–6:30 p.m. in the Pine Mountain Club Condor Room. A wildlife biologist will teach how to live with local wildlife including bears, foxes, mountain lions, bobcats, deer, coyotes, eagles and elk.
