• At the 36th Annual Civil War Reenactment at Fort Tejon State Historic Park from 9 a.m. on, you’ll experience an 1860s village, with stores run by “sutlers” (who followed soldiers and set up shop), Dr. Malarkey’s field hospital, join in an 1850s baseball game and see a mock battle between uniformed Union and Confederate soldiers. Adults: $10; ages 7–17: $5; under age 6: free. See ad on page 15.

• The Summer Reading Challenge and Music Festival Kickoff at Frazier Park Library starts at 11 a.m. Kids who read ten books receive a free book to own. Register at the library or at KCLsummerchallenge.org. Ice cream and music will be served—fun and festivities for all!

You’ll see an 1860s village with merchandise for sale on Sutler’s Row, meet authentically uniformed soldiers and see two battles before the Appomattox surrender and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. • AARP’s Potluck Luncheon is the annual summer kick-off barbecue, 11:45 a.m. at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, all the fixings and salads provided. Please bring your favorite dessert to share. There are also great door prizes to win!

• Frazier Mountain High School’s class of 2019 makes that triumphant graduation walk for their diplomas at 6 p.m. in the gym (700 Falcon Way, Lebec). See portraits of the proud graduates on pages 14, 15 and 16.

• Lebec Community Church’s 100-year celebration is Sunday, June 9. After the regular 9:30 a.m. service, there will be many festivities, including lunch and games (2350 Lebec Rd., Lebec). See item on page 12 of the print edition.

• Oso Town Council will host a Meet the Candidates event Saturday, June 8, 6 p.m. at Neenach Market (Omstar Plaza, 22847 West Ave. D, Lancaster 93536). Snacks and sample ballots will be available. The election is Saturday, June 15, 8 a.m.–8 p.m., also at Neenach Market.
