• Parents, Back to School Night for Frazier Park School is tonight! A welcome, introduction and preview of the coming year will take place in your child’s classroom, at the following times—Transitional Kindergarten (TK), 5 p.m.; Kindergarten, 5:30 p.m.; 1st grade, 6 p.m.; 2nd grade, 6:30 p.m.; 3rd grade, 7 p.m.; 4th grade, 7:30 p.m. Today is also a minimum day for Frazier Park School.

* ‘Guitar Fest’ returns to Pine Mountain Club’s Concert on the Greens Saturday, Aug. 24, 4:30–7 p.m., with the instrumental world music of Incendio and performances from PMC Guitar Society. Though the primary ‘voice’ of Incendio is guitar, you’ll love hearing mandolin, bouzouki, violin, Celtic harp, piano, bass, synthesizer and a rich menu of ethnic percussion instruments. Bring blankets and beach chairs!

• The Let’s Live Local Everything Exchange is Sunday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. in the lower PMCPOA parking lot. This is always a fun social event, where you can take what you want (for free), and donate what you don’t need—ideally in advance, by calling Pam, 661.242.2035, or Tara, 661.242.6901. This is open to all Mountain Community residents.

• A low-cost pet vaccine clinic is offered at Frazier Mountain Park Saturday, Sept. 7, 9 a.m.–noon. Kern County Animal Services is giving $10 vaccines as well as reduced-fee licenses.

• 20th Annual Kern County College Night is Monday, Sept. 9, 5–8 p.m. at Rabobank Convention Center. More than 100 colleges and universities are expected to have representatives there to help students and parents explore higher education options. The event is free.

• Pianist Andrew Wong returns to offer a free concert Sunday, Sept. 15, 2 p.m. at the South Kern Christian Church (3224 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park)—between Falcon’s Nest and Ace. All are welcome, and those who know, know it is not to be missed!
