• The Kern County Cancer Run/Walk 2019 is 7:30–11 a.m. at Yokuts Park (4200 Empire Dr., Bakersfield). Kids 3–11 have their own jog-a-thon (sign up by Oct. 10). • Free Disposal Day: Residents of unincorporated areas in the Antelope Valley south of Avenue A may dispose of up to one ton of trash for free Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Lancaster Landfill, 600 East Ave. F. Bring proof of residency. Get more details at 661.947.7197.

• Want to learn to make ice cream in a bag? Come to Science Saturday with Dr. Brunk, 10 a.m. at Frazier Park Library.

• The ever-popular Old Ridge Route Driving Tour led by Ridge Route Communities Museum historian Bonnie Kane rolls around again at 10 a.m. (and lasts about three hours). • A Poker Run fundraiser for Moose Lodge #2364 is today. Register at 8–10 a.m. ($25 any vehicle, $10 for each added rider) at Frazier Park Lodge (6941 Lockwood Valley Road). Kern County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services in partnership with Clinica Sierra Vista Behavioral Health is holding this stakeholder meeting to inform residents about their current programs and hear how they can better serve you.

• Frazier Mountain High School Homecoming is Friday, Oct. 25. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m., and the game against Riverdale Christian kicks off at 7 p.m. The king and queen will be crowned at halftime. It’s always a fun night, full of spirit, fun and excitement.

• Boo at the Zoo is Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at the California Living Museum (CALM, 10500 Alfred Harrell Hwy., Bakersfield). Kids are free with paid adult admission ($10). Costumes are encouraged!
