• Local craft and vendors event is Saturday, May 15, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. at Midway Market (6032 Frazier Mountain Park Road). Stop by to see what your local vendors have been working on—arts and craft items, key chains, bags and household items. Social distancing and masks required.

• Basecamp reopening party is 12–3 p.m. This is an outdoors dance party with live music, food and drink specials. Traditional 50’s rockabilly with Omar and the Stringpoppers, Dean Frederick Clark and Sam Williams. The party ends with some open mic time (16311 Askin Drive, Pine Mountain Village).

• Moose Lodge Yard Sale is Saturday, May 22, starting at 8 a.m. There will be lots of items and delicious baked goods (6941 Lockwood Valley Road).

• Vaccines are administered free by Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley’s mobile clinic, Saturday, May 22, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Frazier Mountain Park Community Center. Ages 18+ are eligible, as they are giving Moderna and they will also be bringing Pfizer (mainly for teens 16-17). See appointment instructions on page 7. Walk-ups will also be served.

• Buckland Surplus Swap Meet is May 22–23, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Local vendors and creators can reserve a spot by calling 661.573.6816. Spots are $10 for a table or $25 for a 10×10 spot. Here’s a chance to get rid of your old unwanted items, sell your arts and crafts and such, or just have fun. Swap meet will be held in the parking lot (3224 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park).

•Bring your icky stuff to dump at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, Saturday, May 22, 9 a.m–noon, Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road). This is a great resource if you have you been using your covid-19 lockdown time for major cleaning around the homestead.

• Kern Fire Safe Council holds a community-wide webinar on Emergency Preparedness Tuesday, May 25, 5–6 p.m., via Zoom. Call 661.246.3955 or email info@kernfiresafecouncil.org for Zoom invite, or visit their Facebook page @KernFireSafe. They will be on Facebook live, and will put the webinar up on Facebook for those who have missed it.

•Passport to Paradise! The Class of 2022 will be hosting the 2021 FMHS Junior–Senior prom Saturday, May 29, 6 p.m.–9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency (24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia). Tickets are $65. Dinner will be served, formal dress required. Event will be outside and will follow all local covid-19 safety guidelines.

• Virtual Valley Fever Support Group is Wednesday, June 9, 5-6 p.m., online. Kern Medical Valley Fever Institute is holding virtual sessions to help those who struggle with valley fever or would like to learn more about it. This group meets every second Wednesday of the month. Join in and find support at ValleyFeverInstitute.com/education-and-awareness/support-group/.

• The Frazier Mountain Health Fair will go on! Saturday, June 26, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Frazier Park School. Come out for your life and health. Free tests of many kinds are available, and even some free dental screenings. See ad on page 5 for more details.

• Pine Mountain Club’s Concert on the Greens returns, with Rebel Heart kicking off, Saturday, June 26, 4:30–7 p.m. It is on the greens at the PMC golf course, so bring blankets and beach chairs. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Masks required, and social distancing recommended.

• Now that Museums are opening, what is a greater way to have fun? Bring the little ones to explore the history of art, on top of that, those with SNAP benefits only have to show their EBT card to get free admission. To see which museums are open, and their times visit museums4all.org and enter a ZIP Code.

• Virtual Narcotics Anonymous and Al-Anon meetings are available during the covid-19 pandemic.
