• Artflix at Artworks presents Gauguin, The Full Story, 6:30 p.m. at Artworks Community Gallery (16233 Pine Valley Lane, PMC). This 2003 documentary about the controversial artist Paul Gaugin ‘moves beyond the standard images of Tahitian beauties most people know to exploring the breadth of his artistic accomplishments, which included work as a sculptor, musician, print maker, and ceramicist,’ according to Turner Classic Movies. Drinks and snacks are available for $3 donation.

• Comment Deadline is Thursday, Nov. 4! L.A. County Safety Element Update review: CA Senate Bill 379 asks counties to update their General Plans, due to increase in wildfires and other climate-change related hazards. Los Angeles County Regional Planning’s draft Policy Maps and Safety Element Goals and Policies are now available for public review. The 30-day review and public comment period ends November 4. See the documents online at planning.lacounty.gov/site/climate/se_documents/. Look for Appendix H. Email comments to climate@planning.lacounty.gov.

• SpeakEasy Theater is back with the premiere of Sarah’s Last Day, November 12–14, at the Pine Mountain Clubhouse (2524 Beechwood Way). Show times are 7:30 p.m. each night, with a 2 p.m. matinee on November 14. Buy tickets at the PMCPOA office for $10 per person.
• A Wilderness Guided Hike at Wind Wolves Preserve is November 13, 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Naturalists lead a 6-7 mile trek from a trail head in San Emigdio Canyon. There is a chance to see many kinds of wildlife and unique geological features. This hike happens just twice a year, and is for ages 8 and up. Bring your own water and lunch. • A Winter Coat Drive is happening again this year, two Saturdays this month. Collection locations and times: Saturday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m.–

• Thanksgiving Foundation Feed the Community Event at Frazier Park Library is Thursday, Nov. 18, 2–4 p.m. Volunteers are needed for set-up and clean up. Donations are also appreciated. For more information, see ad on page 5 of the print edition.
* The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in PMC is Friday, Nov. 25, 6 p.m. sharp, with hot chocolate and Christmas cookies in the clubhouse parking lot at 5:45 p.m. Join in the caroling fun and experience the thrill of holiday lights popping on. Masks are preferred.
