• The Housing Choice Voucher waiting list opens Friday, Jan. 28. This is the first time the waiting list has been reopened since 2012. Voucher recipients are selected randomly each month. Residents of Kern County are given preference over residents from other communities. For eligibility, guidelines, to apply for voucher assistance or get more information, visit hcv.kernha.org.
• Kern Economic Development Corporation hosts the 2022 State of the County, Saturday, Jan. 29, 7–8 p.m. This is a virtual event, held at www.kernedc.com.
