• Have you gotten your Resident Permit yet? Permits can help you get past those winter road closures. When CHP sets up the snow visitor chain check line, you can be waved through if you display one for the current year. • Plan ahead for the Keep Kern Beautiful Community Clean-up event, Saturday, Jan. 22. Keep Kern Beautiful is encouraging residents to participate in individual community clean-up efforts. Volunteers are asked to spend some of their day cleaning up areas around their neighborhoods and to share photos of their work by tagging @KernCountyPublicWorks and #KeepKernBeautiful. • Kern Community Foundation’s Kern Futures Scholarship application period is still open, Dec. 1–March 1, 2022. Graduating high school seniors planning to attend college, university or an accredited technical school are encouraged to apply. • The Housing Choice Voucher waiting list opens Friday, Jan. 28. This is the first time the waiting list has been reopened since 2012. Voucher recipients are selected randomly each month.
