• Frazier Mountain Little League Opening Day/Photo Day is 9 a.m. Join the fun and festivities with face painting, food, and a fastest pitch contest (4265 Lebec Road, Lebec 93243).

* The annual PMCPOA Members’ Budget Meeting is 10 a.m. in the Condor Room of the clubhouse (2524 Beechwood Way, PMC). The proposed Draft Budget is on page 3 of the March Condor newsletter, and a more current version is on the members’ website.

• Basket Weaving class is back at Ridge Route Communities Museum & Historical Society, 10 a.m.–12 p.m., (CLASS FULL) conducted by Bonnie Kane (3515 Park Drive, Frazier Park) and returns Saturday, March 26, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and includes all necessary materials. • Veterans of Foreign War Post 9791 Meet ‘N’ Greet is 11 a.m., at VFW Post 9791 (612 Canada Trail, FP), behind Don’s Liquor Mart. It has been a pillar of the Mountain Communities for 75 years. All veterans are invited—there will be snacks!

• Artworks Community Gallery’s Artist’s Reception and exhibit by Adele Thomas is 5–8 p.m, rescheduled from last Friday due to icy weather (16233 Pine Valley Lane, #203, Pine Mountain Village). Thomas is a lifestyle and travel photographer and film director.

• Remember to set your clocks forward tonight before bed! Daylight Savings springs forward one hour beginning 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

Tuesday, Mar. 15, 2022

• Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is 12–6 p.m., at Frazier Park Library. Today is reserved for Friends of the Library members, and you can join at the door­—a chance for you to join in supporting many great events and programs (Individual, $10; Family, $20; Individual plus magazine subscription sponsorship for the branch, $40). Children attending the book sale on any day get to pick out a free book! Tomorrow and Thursday, 12-6 p.m., the sale is open to all. Saturday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. is also for the public, with the added bonus of the Buck-a-Bag sale.

* The St. Patrick’s Day Party with live music from Meridian is Thursday, March 17, 5 p.m.–9 p.m. at the Condor Lounge in PMC (2524 Beechwood Way, Pine Mountain Club). Celebrate the luck of the Irish with a special menu of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes.

• A free covid-19 mobile vaccine clinic in Pine Mountain Club has been rescheduled to Friday March 18, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. due to icy road conditions last week. This event is open to the public and is held in the PMCPOA clubhouse (2524 Beechwood Way). Pfizer (available for ages five and up) and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available, as well as boosters. PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and rapid antigen testing available on site. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. The second dose clinic returns Friday, April 8, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

• Come do you part to save lives: Houchin Blood Bank returns to the PMC Clubhouse parking lot Monday, March 21, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Blood donators will receive a pair of Houchin Blood Bank socks, while supplies last.

• Kern Fire Safe Council with FEMA: Community Wide Webinar on Resiliency is Tuesday, March 22, 5 p.m., with FEMA’s Intergovernmental and Congressional Affairs Specialist Christian Erikson and Vincent Martinez, Regional Preparedness Liaison. RSVP at www.kernfiresafe.org.

• Gather your icky stuff to dump at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, Saturday, March 26, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road). Bring all your toxic things and take this opportunity to clean out old winter items and welcome spring.
