• Two covid vaccine clinics hosted by El Tejon Unified School District are open to the public: 9 a.m.–12 p.m. at Frazier Park School (3149 San Carlos Trail, FP) and 2–4 p.m. at Frazier Mountain High School (700 Falcon Way, Lebec). Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccine are offered.

• Are you a problem solver? Help the Mountain Communities Family Resource Center with your suggestions, 9:30–10:30 a.m. during their open Zoom forum to solve local issues. This community collaborative meeting will involve discussion of local issues as well as the presentation of information about a camp for youth struggling with loss and grief. • Get to Know Your Numbers at Let’s Get Healthy, Kern County’s free health screening program, 3–4 p.m. at Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive, FP). Learn your BMI, blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, and how to monitor these numbers over the course of the next six weeks. This is open to the public. • Come enjoy Mile High, a new band on the mountain, 6 p.m., at La Sierra Mexican Restaurant (3500 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park). The free live music to accompany your nachos will include a cool mix of rock and country favorites spanning six decades.

• A Free Bulky Residential Waste Collection event comes to Frazier Mountain Park, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. (3801 Park Drive). Drive in and drop off your home appliances, furniture, mattresses and other unwanted household items. Hazardous, green and construction waste not accepted.

• The Wildlands Conservancy’s free guided wilderness hike of El Camino Viejo Wilderness trail is 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. at the Wind Wolves Preserve (16019 CA-166, Bakersfield CA, 93311). This hike will last 5–6 hours, so bring your water and lunch. Any prospective adventurer must register by visiting www.wildlandconservancy.org. High clearance vehicles are recommended to reach the trail head, and each driver can bring up to 4 passengers per registration. This hike is recommended for ages 13 and up.

• Join Frazier Mountain Little League’s Cornhole Competition, 10 a.m., at Tejon Fields (4265 Lebec Road, Lebec). The competition begins at 11 a.m. Proceeds support FMLL. Entry is $50 per team, with cash prizes up to $300.

* Steve Wilkinson & Band performs from 7–11 p.m. in the Condor Lounge at Pine Mountain Club Property Owners Association (2524 Beechwood Way, PMC). No membership card is required for members and guests to enjoy the performance.

• A self-awareness course led by author and life coach Daniel Wilson is 3 p.m. (every Tuesday), at Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive, FP). Learn how to ask yourself thought-provoking questions like ‘How do we love ourselves?’ and explore answers through introspection, meditation, videos and sharing. •Kids Korner, a new after-school program for ages 7–12, is every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive, Frazier Park). This program provides homework help and activities like arts and crafts, science experiments and games.

• The Chess Club is looking for new and advanced players every Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Centered in Christ Church (3509 Mt. Pinos Way, FP, across the street from La Sierra Mexican restaurant). This club, originally formed by the late Bill Hopper at the library, teaches young people the skills of chess. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and stay to play. Crafts and Collectibles Fair at Frazier Park Library— On Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., artisans, crafters and collectible vendors hold a special sale at the Frazier Park Library. The proceeds help pay for summer reading programs for children and fun family events sponsored by Friends of the Frazier Park Library.

• Don’t miss your chance: The Ridge Route Road Tour is May 7, 10 a.m. Reservations are already full but the wait list is open. This three-hour tour from Gorman to the Tumble Inn comes with a guided historical narrative from museum docents, and includes a handout of photos from the old road stops. The cost is $15 per person.
