• A Free Residential Hazardous Waste Collection event comes to Lebec, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road, Lebec). Batteries, motor oil, paints, light bulbs, sharps, pool chemicals, cleaning products and other things too toxic for landfills can be disposed of during this event. * Meet the Candidates running for the Pine Mountain Club Property Owners Association Board of Directors, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. in the Condor Room (2524 Beechwood Way, PMC). For more information call 661.242.3788.

• The Ridge Route Run Car Show, Street Fair and Memorial Walk will close Mt. Pinos Way from Los Padres Drive to Laguna Trail, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please plan to use alternate routes for traveling—and stop in for the fun . Remember, everyone is welcome to march in the Memorial walk. Bring a photo to carry of a veteran you wish to honor in the parade.

• Mountain Memories invites all veterans and service members to join the lineup during the Ridge Route Run Car Show and Memorial Walk at 11:30 a.m. to honor those fallen and the five members of the VFW who passed away this year. • Concert on the Greens returns for the summer with a performance by the Jimi Nelson Band, 4:30–7 p.m. on the grounds of the PMCPOA golf course. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Please do not bring outside food or alcohol.

• White Boy James and the Blues Express bring lively blues and entertainment to Sue’s Tavern, 6 p.m. (3440 Mt. Pinos Way, FP). Head over after the Ridge Route Run Car Show and Memorial Day Parade for refreshments and libations.

• After the the Memorial Day Walk you can help support local VFW post 9791 at Bingo, 7 p.m. (612 Canada Trail, FP). VFW pull tabs and refreshments will be offered for sale. Buy-in is $10. Be comfy and wear a mask if you wish. Your eyes will be smiling! Laughter is encouraged.

• The Jizo Peace Center welcomes talented instrumentalist Eli Patterson, 5–6:30 p.m. for his Sound Bath meditation. Eli works with his own handcrafted instruments to provide a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Donations of $25 are politely requested but no one will be turned away. • A Free Walk-Up Mobile Clinic hosted by Mountain Communities Family Resource Center is Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Frazier Park Recreational Center (3801 Park Drive, FP). Offered are the Pfizer first-dose covid-19 vaccine, rapid antigen testing, booster, and flu shot.

• Join Mountain Communities Family Resource Center and First 5 Kern for Park Day, Saturday, June 4, 11 a.m.–2 p.m. The Forest Service, Kern County Libraries, Kern Fire Safe Council, The Earth Organization, California Highway Patrol, Frazier Mountain Little League and others have come together to offer games, activities, crafts, snacks and prizes. Everyone is welcome to this event.

• The Boys and Girls Club of Frazier Mountain’s Kids Summer School Camp begins Wednesday, June 14, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and lasts until July 8. Students must sign up for summer school to be eligible. Over four weeks, kids will learn about California and the world through culture and art studies, new experiences and activities. This camp is free. • A Health Fair sponsored by Southwest Healthcare District comes to town Saturday, June 25, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at Frazier Mountain Elementary School. This famous and important fair provides free—thats right—free health screenings for all residents of the area. Mammograms and dental cleanings are appointment-based only.
