• Frazier Mountain Adult Softball League begins their season with an opening day Home Run Derby, 1 p.m. at Lampkin Park (16410 Askin Dr., PMC). This fundraiser helps support their league and offers a barbecue lunch, local vendors, and fall league registration. The Home Run Derby competition awards first, second and third place. $5 pays for 5 attempts at a homer. Support your local league by swinging for the fences.

• The Boys and Girls Club offers Frazier Mountain’s Kids’ Summer-School Camp, Mon.–Fri., 8 a.m.–5 p.m. through July 8. Students must sign up for summer school to be eligible. Over four weeks, kids will learn about California and the world through culture and art studies, new experiences and activities. This camp is free. • Read Beyond the Beaten Path. The 2022 Summer Reading Challenge Begins Now, presented by Kern County Libraries. From June through July, Frazier Park Library encourages all ages to participate in their summer reading challenge. Sign up on Beanstack.com or use their mobile app to earn and track digital badges and record reading sessions. This year’s theme includes books about nature and the outdoors. Visit Frazier Park Library to find great reads on wildlife, oceans, folktales, camping, hiking and more.

* Get outside with family and friends at Outdoor Movie Night on the golf course, Friday, June 17, 8 p.m. at Lampkin Park (16410 Askin Dr., PMC) for a screening of a 1990’s classic, The Sandlot, which tells the story of a group of kids and the antics that occur during their summer of baseball in 1962. Events at the golf course are for PMCPOA members only.

* Does your little one need swimming lessons? Take them to Learn to Swim, a week long summer camp hosted by PMCPOA beginning Monday, June 20–Friday, June 24, 9–10 a.m. for ages 8–12 at the PMCPOA pool (2524 Beechwood Way, PMC). Pool access and activities are for PMCPOA members only.

• A Health Fair sponsored by Southwest Healthcare District comes to town Saturday, June 25, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at Frazier Park Elementary School. This famous and important fair provides free—thats right—free—health screenings for all residents of the area. Mammograms and dental cleanings are appointment-based only. •Concert on the Greens continues their summer music series with Katfish performing live acoustic country, rock and pop music Saturday, June 25, 4:30–7 p.m. (16410 Askin Dr., PMC). Please do not bring outside food or alcohol.

• Teen’s Books vs. Movies club returns Wednesday, June 29, 2 p.m. with a review of The Princess Bride, by William Goldman. Read the book before today and then go to Frazier Park Library to watch the movie and compare with fellow enthusiasts.
